Firewall Guidance

What are safe Firewall settings for IDriveSync?

IDriveSync is designed to be firewall friendly. In most cases, you simply have to permit IDriveSync to pass through the firewall when prompted during installation.

We do recognize that some users will need to set firewall settings manually. In case you do, please use the following settings:

Port numbers

  • 443

Executables for Windows OS

  • idevsutil.exe
  • IDriveSync_Service.exe
  • IDriveSyncTray.exe

Executables for Mac OS

  • idsync_ver_001
  • IDriveSyncDaemon
I use anti-virus and firewall software on my computer. Could this affect IDriveSync?

In some cases, anti-virus software and personal firewalls (such as Symantec Norton Antivirus, and Kaspersky) can prevent IDriveSync from connecting.

This is because IDriveSync uses port 443 which is used for SSL connections. Certain firewall programs can block applications from using port 443. Also, Windows Defender sometimes closes connections on this port.

Make sure that IDriveSync and related executables are set as a safe or accepted program in your anti-virus or firewall software.

Executables for Windows OS

  • idevsutil.exe
  • IDriveSync_Service.exe
  • IDriveSyncTray.exe

Executables for Mac OS

  • idsync_ver_001
  • IDriveSyncDaemon

You may need to refer to support for these products. Also, check your antivirus software and/or firewalls to see if they are blocking port 443.

If you have followed the vendor's recommendations and are still unable to connect to IDriveSync, please contact Support.
